Asian Caprolactam: Prices slide further on weaker upstream, slow demand / Persistent inventory, cashflow pressure bring lower operating rates / Chinese Caprolactam imports fall 40.50% on month, exports down 21.98%

Asian caprolactam prices extended losses in the week to Oct. 23, dragged by soften upstream market and ongoing weak demand. “Caprolactam prices and sentiment are bearish, dampened by weaker benzene and sluggish demand amid worsening US-China trade tensions and the fading peace deal between Russia and Ukraine,” a Northeast Asian buyer said. A Chinese trader echoed a similar view. “Our sales are not good this week, as buying interest remained subdued,” the Chinese trader said. Amid persistently high inventory and cashflow pressure, Chinese caprolactam producers were heard running their plants at reduced rates around 90% during the week, according to market participants.
