Asian acrylonitrile prices softened Sept. 1 as Chinese domestic supply increased following several plant restarts. acrylonitrile CFR Far East Asia at $1,540/metric ton Sept. 1, down $5/metric ton week over week, while FOB China was assessed at $1,510/mt, down $10/mt week over week. Domestic prices were heard at around Yuan 11,600/mt Sept. 1, down Yuan 600-700/mt from Yuan 12,200-12,300/mt the previous week, according to market sources. Market sources said prices softened due to weak downstream demand and increased domestic Chinese supply. China's Liaoning Kingfa restarted its 130,000 metric tons/year acrylonitrile line in Liaoning on Aug. 31 after completing planned maintenance. The ACN line is now operating at full capacity.
