Asian Recycled LDPE: Prices rise on supply shortage / Recycled LDPE prices rise $15/mt to $915/mt / Supply shortage drives prices above HDPE / Higher scrap costs from the US loom ahead

Asian recycled low density polyethylene natural film up $15/mt week over week at $915/mt FOB Southeast Asia May 13. While buying demand was still reported to be stagnant across the week, prices rose on the back of a supply shortage, according to a recycler in Singapore. Recycled LDPE natural film prices have also increased above those of recycled HDPE. Most traders attributed this to the higher virgin LDPE than HDPE prices. In the week to May 13, HDPE Inj CFR SE Asia at $1,390/mt, while LDPE G-P CFR SE Asia was at $1,620/mt. "LDPE used films HD blowmolding bottles are more than LDPE used films now [in] supply," another recycler said. Hence, the difference in supply levels accounts for the difference in prices.
