Asian MMA and PMMA: Prices retreat after initial gains / China suppliers raise offers on supply disruptions / India buyers seek lower-priced materials

Asian MMA prices remained stable week over week at $1,155/ mt CFR China, while the Southeast Asia market was unchanged during the same period at $1,255/mt CFR Southeast Asia on Aug. 13. During the week from Aug. 6 to Aug. 13, domestic MMA prices in China surged initially due to supply disruptions but later retracted gains amid subdued demand. Domestic China prices dropped to Yuan 9,500-9,600/mt after briefly jumping to Yuan 9,800-9,900/mt. However, they began to rebound as ongoing maintenance at some producers limited supply. Meanwhile, some offer levels on the FOB China basis were heard around $1,150/mt earlier this week, but some producers target $1,180-$1,190/mt FOB China due to reduced supply in North China heard on Aug. 13.
