India PTA: Price up WOW led by upstream paraxylene values / Freight rates from China to India heard to be easing / Indian buyers risk-averse for Nov-delivery cargoes

Purified terephthalic acid prices in India rose in the week to Sept. 25, led by a week-over-week increase in feedstock paraxylene values, while market participants reported that freight costs from China to India had begun to ease from their high levels. PTA CFR India at $1,042/metric ton Sept. 25, down $6/mt day over day, maintaining the spread to PTA CFR China at $90/mt. The spread was within indications heard at $85- $95/mt over PTA CFR China, which equated to $1,037-$1,047/mt on a CFR India basis.
