BPCL shuts Kochi refinery for maintenance

Jun 23, 2026

State-run Indian refiner BPCL is currently carrying out maintenance at its Kochi refinery. The refiner's diesel hydro treater (DHDT) unit and delayed coker unit will remain offline until September 25. The refinery plans to decrease crude oil input by 30% during the maintenance period to manage diesel output. Market participants noted that it will also experience a reduced volume of crude oil vessel deliveries in September. BPCL’s Kochi refinery has a crude processing capacity of 311,000 barrels per day. Indian refineries typically plan their maintenance shutdowns during the monsoon period from June to September, as the demand for transportation fuels generally decreases.
