Asian toluene down $12/metric ton day over day at $1,209/mt FOB Korea and $1,203/mt FOB China on Sept. 25. During the Market on Close assessment process, no bids and offers were floated in the FOB Korea market. No trades were concluded before the end of the MOC. Market sources said toluene prices remained high due to a supply shortage. A South Asia- based trader said there seems to be a shortage of toluene for now, but expected supply to improve in October and November, so “prices should come off.” A Northeast Asia-based trader said toluene supply remained tight in China and South Korea, adding that toluene will continue to be more expensive than isomer-MX as South Korea depends on imported toluene to maintain its MX export balance.
