Asian recycled PET prices saw a slight uptrend week over week Sept. 23, in line with an uptick in demand. recycled polyethylene terephthalate clear flakes up $5/metric ton week over week at $845/mt FOB Southeast Asia on Sept. 23, while R-PET food grade pellets rose $5/mt day over day and week over week to $1,240 FOB Southeast Asia. Market sources said demand for R-PET was strengthening as the price gap between recycled and virgin pellets has narrowed, incentivizing some buyers to purchase recycled pellets instead. “We are seeing a premium of only $50/mt this year in September for recycled PET, compared to $450/mt in September last year”, a seller said.
