Asian PVC: Prices stable amid muted demand / East China PVC prices unchanged / Export PVC prices stable despite low domestic demand

Asian PVC prices were stable in the week to Aug. 13, with market participants adopting a wait-and-see approach for September offers that are likely to come out next week. PVC CFR China unchanged week over week at $700/mt, in line with stable tradable indications heard at $700/mt. A Northeast Asian producer said there were not many PVC price discussions this week due to muted demand. However, PVC producers were heard to have kept PVC plant operating rates high, at about 90% to 100%. In the domestic market, East China domestic ethylene-based PVC unchanged week over week at Yuan 5,050/ mt on Aug. 13, in line with tradable indications heard at Yuan 4,900-5,150/mt.
