Asian PS: Prices stable to lower as demand remains subdued / Polystyrene offers heard lowered to boost buying interest / China PS operating rate up 1.72% WOW; EPS rate down 4.33% WOW

General-purpose polystyrene CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia markers at $1,060/mt and $1,070/mt, respectively, on Aug. 13, both down $10/mt from the previous assessment. High-impact polystyrene CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia markers were assessed at $1,160/mt and $1,170/mt, respectively, on Aug. 13, also $10/mt lower from the last assessment. A polystyrene producer in Northeast Asia said, “There hasn’t been a bright spot in the past few weeks. Amid a lack of feedstock styrene monomer cost support, alongside the current low season, producers can only lower prices to attract customers to place orders. It’s been tough these past three months.
