Asian polybutylene terephthalate lost ground during the week to Nov. 4, weighed down by lower crude and high freight rates. PBT FOB China prices down $20/metric ton week over week at $1,470/mt on Nov. 4, below an offer heard at $1,840/mt. The assessment also took into consideration weaker domestic East China prices. "Indian buyers have paused their purchases due to the high prices now; many of them have also gone for their festive holidays," according to a UNV1 producer. "Shipping rates are still at a high level, with a 40-foot full containerload (FCL) going for $2,500-$2,900 from UNV1 to India," the producer said.
