Asian methanol prices were high Sept. 25, supported by a sharp rally in China's domestic market ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, firm crude oil prices and continued inventory drawdowns in China. Prompt cargoes in Taicang rose 150 yuan/metric ton day over day, trading at 4,060-4,340 yuan/mt ex-tank on Sept. 24, reflecting stronger sentiment as coastal methanol inventory fell 2.81% week over week to 412,000 mt on Sept. 23. CFR China methanol at $483/mt Sept. 25, unchanged day over day, but up $22/mt from a week earlier. The bullish momentum, however, was not uniform across Asia as public holidays curtailed market activity in several key markets.
