Asian caprolactam prices retreated in the week to Aug. 6, weighed down by softer crude oil and benzene on the upstream and nylon-6 on the downstream. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam prices down $10/metric ton week over week at $1,690/mt on Aug. 6, within a tradable indication heard at $1,680-$1,700/mt. "Caprolactam prices are going down because of softer crude oil and benzene prices, and also a weaker downstream, where nylon-6 prices are also declining," a China-based producer said. On the downstream, FOB China nylon-6 resin prices for bright and semi-dull grades at $1,650/mt on Aug. 5, down $45/mt week over week.
