Asian caprolactam prices eased during the week to Sept. 24, after rising for six consecutive weeks, reflecting lower domestic East China prices and weaker downstream nylon-6 prices. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam down $60/ metric ton week over week at $2,040/mt on Sept. 24, below an offer heard at $2,050/mt. “There’s not much buying support at the current price levels. It has been a quiet week, with holidays in Japan, South Korea and China affecting trade significantly,” a China-based producer said. “Factories are looking to reduce inventory ahead of the holidays in China, and hence, they are reducing prices to secure more sales.
