Asian Butadiene: Mostly stable amid holiday-heavy week in NE Asia / China's synthetic rubber futures surge end of week / Low river water levels in Europe affecting supply

Asian butadiene was assessed mostly stable week over week, with CFR China at $1,600/metric ton on Sept. 25, while FOB Korea and FOB China were down $10/mt over the period at $1,570/mt. Trading activity during the week appeared limited because public holidays occurred in key markets, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China, toward the end of the week. Next week, China will also start its second Golden Week national holiday from Oct. 1, which has led to lower downstream demand, market sources in China have said. However, on the last trading day, Sept. 24, before the Mid- Autumn Festival holiday, November synthetic rubber futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange surged 520 yuan/mt to 15,680 yuan/mt, in tandem with higher physical synthetic rubber prices and a jump in crude oil...
