Asian phenol down $50/metric ton week over week at $1,020/mt on Aug. 11, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was assessed $50/mt lower over the same period at $1,140/mt. Discussions in the domestic China phenol market weakened, with East China ex-tank discussions heard at 8,400-8,450 yuan/mt, compared with 8,800-8,900 yuan/mt in the previous week. A trader based in Southeast Asia said acetone supply was "quite tight". A China-based seller said exports were possible but buyer sentiment remained cautious, adding that demand was seen from Southeast Asia and India.
