Asia Orthoxylene: Prices fall amid slow momentum / China's Sinopec lowers OX listed price to 9,750 yuan/mt / Wide buy-sell gap slows down discussions

Strength in the Asian orthoxylene market tapered off during the week ending Sept. 25 as high prices faced stronger resistance from downstream buyers. FOB/CFR China $35/metric ton lower week over week at $1,310/mt and FOB Korea $10/mt lower at $1,390/mt on Sept. 25. China's Sinopec lowered its orthoxylene listed price by another 100 yuan/mt to 9,750 yuan/mt on Sept. 23. It was previously dropped to 9,850 yuan/mt on Sept. 20. Demand in China softened following the completion of preholiday replenishment activities, with downstream plasticizer consumption reported as lackluster, a domestic phthalic anhydride producer said. Several Asian participants observed weak demand and slow momentum in the broader market during the week, amid a wide buy-sell gap heard at $50-$55/mt.
