Asian butadiene was assessed $10-$15/mt higher day over day Aug. 15, as tight supplies in South Korea due to plant shutdowns prompted some spot demand in the region. From a week earlier, Asian butadiene rose $5-$15/mt. the CFR China butadiene price $10/mt higher day over day at $1,080/mt Aug. 15. Some spot demand emerged in Asia in a bid to cover supply shortfall from South Korea amid unplanned and planned cracker shutdowns for next few months. Some trading sources said some buyers who prefer to buy South Korea origin materials were willing to pay premium for South Korean cargoes.
