Westlake Vinnolit declares FM on chlor-alkali supplies from Knapsack unit

Westlake Vinnolit has announced a force majeure (FM) on supplies of chlor-alkali from its Knapsack unit. A source in Germany informed that, “The company issued the FM in the second half of September 2025. Further details regarding the duration of the FM could not be ascertained, and an official statement from the concerned authority was not available.” Located in Knapsack, Germany, the plant has a caustic soda production capacity of 280,000 dmt/year and chlorine production capacity of 250,000 mt/year.
