Wankai New Materials has shut down its Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) unit in Chongqing. A source in China informed a team member, “The company has halted operations at the unit in mid-January 2026 owing to weak market conditions. Further details on the duration of the shutdown could not be ascertained.” Located in Chongqing, China, the PET unit has a production capacity of 600,000 mt/year.
