South Asian PP: Prices fall on poor demand, competitive discussions / Market participants bearish on homopolymer prices / Middle East producers offering aggressively to South Asia

South Asian polypropylene prices fell in the week ended Aug. 20 as market discussions turned more competitive week over week amid persisting subdued demand and stock buildup with producers. PP raffia/injection grade down $10/mt from the last assessment at $900/mt CFR South Asia Aug. 20, below the lowest offer heard and corroborated at $905/mt CFR South Asia, above a bid at $895/mt, and within tradable indications heard at $900-$905/mt. Some offers for forward delivery could not be considered for the assessment, as they fell outside methodology specification, and the larger market deemed them nonrepresentative. However, they indicated a bearish trend in the material’s prices.
