India PTA: Prices climb on feedstock gains / PTA prices rise $15, tracking paraxylene / Buyers resist higher costs amid supply issues

Purified terephthalic acid prices in India increased Oct. 23, tracking feedstock paraxylene values and supported by a stable spread between CFR China and CFR India prices. PTA CFR India up $15 day over day and up $20 week over week at $1,070/metric ton, maintaining a $90/mt spread to PTA CFR China. The spread was within the tradable indications heard at $85-$90/mt over PTA CFR China, which equated to $1,065-$1,070/mt on a CFR India basis. The assessment was below a sell idea heard at PX CFR Taiwan/China plus $110/mt FOB Southeast Asia, which equated to $1,080/mt CFR India.
