Domestic China market sees strong upstream support / Firm feedstock, tight supply boost prices in Southeast Asia

Asian phenol $20/mt higher week over week at $740/mt CFR China and Asian acetone $25/mt higher week over week at $545/mt CFR China Jan. 27. Ex-tank prices for phenol and acetone in the East China markets were heard at Yuan 6,150/mt and Yuan 4,700/mt, respectively, compared with Yuan 5,900-5,930/mt and Yuan 4,450- 4,500/mt in the previous week. In the domestic China market, prices of phenol and acetone have been gaining strength, with a producer in the country saying, "The upstream support has been very strong these days. Moreover, producers, especially in the East China region, are keen to raise offer levels as margins have been very poor for a long period of time.
