Formosa Plastics USA has shut its olefins unit at Point Comfort, Texas. A source in the US informed a team member, “The company halted operations at the unit in early September 2025 due to technical issues. The duration of the shutdown remains unclear, and verification from an authorized source was not available.” Located in Point Comfort, Texas in the US, the olefins unit has ethylene production capacity of 730,000 mt/year and propylene production capacity of 275,000 mt/year.
