Mitsui Chemicals Iwakuni halts production at MIBK unit

Mitsui Chemicals Iwakuni has taken off stream its Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) unit. A source in Japan informed a team member, “The company is heard to have started maintenance at the unit around September 24, 2025. Details regarding the duration of the shutdown remain unclear, and confirmation from an authorized source has not been obtained.” Located in Iwakuni, Japan, the MIBK unit has a production capacity of 30,000 mt/year.
