Healthy inventories and slower demand in the week to Aug. 28 put pressure on the fundamentals of the Indian acetic acid market. Domestic ex-tank prices declined by Rupee 1/kg to around Rupees 32-32.50/kg at the Kandla and Mumbai ports due to healthy port inventories. Kandla port inventory was reported to be hovering above 35,000 mt. Trade discussions in the domestic market were limited as a result of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Mumbai and other parts of the west coast of India. “We have hardly heard any inquiries over the last two days,” said a trader, adding that the slow momentum was likely to persist until the first week of September.
