Asian nylon-6 prices were stagnant in the week to Sept. 3 amid persistently slow demand and concerns over oversupply. Spot offer levels were stable to weaker this week, with buying interest remaining subdued despite reduced offer levels. "Downstream demand remains weak, and producers face pressure from thin nylon-6-caprolactam spreads and large inventory levels," said a China-based producer. Several producers attributed stagnant prices to increased competition and supply, saying, "New capacity and some plant restarts during the week have intensified competition." Looking ahead, sources expect the traditional peak season to be delayed until later this year, with no signs of demand recovery in sight.
