The South Asian polyethylene market experienced a price drop for most grades in the week to Aug. 27, as weaker demand weighed on trade discussions. Market sources said discussion levels for grades such as LDPE film, HDPE and LLDPE dropped this week, as the market has yet to see a pickup in demand. “The festival season will likely support demand for PE grades in the coming days, especially in the packaging sector,” said an Indiabased market source. “However, currently, prices are dropping due to continued rains in some regions and weaker buying interest.” Some international sellers indicated lower price ideas for India, saying that the buying sentiment was weak. “There is sluggish demand in the domestic market.
