South Asian PP: Prices fall on weak demand, inventory buildup with end-users / Buyers awaiting more clarity on changes in GST structure in India / Participants hopeful of demand improvement from H2 Sep

South Asian polypropylene prices fell in the week ended Sept. 3 as stock buildup with end-users and persistent heavy rainfall across South Asia led to subdued demand. Separately, buyers in India remained away, as they awaited the government announcement on changes in the country’s domestic duty structure. PP raffia/injection grade down $5/mt from the last assessment at $885/mt CFR South Asia Sept. 3, below the lowest offer heard and corroborated at $890/mt, above the most competitive bids heard at $870/mt and within tradable indications heard at $880-$890/mt. Market participants said that buy-side inquiries were low amid stock buildup with end-users. China-origin raffia from deals done in July has arrived recently, which is adding to the inventory pressure among buyers, who had also stocked up when domestic producers were offering schemes...
