Asia Weekly Polycarbonate: Falls $10/mt to record low amid weak demand / BPA near a historical low / China's exports rise, imports fall in July

Asian polycarbonate general-purpose molding-grade and extrusion-grade prices fell $10/mt week over week to $1,450/mt CFR China on Aug. 27, marking the lowest level since began assessing them in March 2024. Prices declined, tracking lower values in the Chinese domestic market amid ample supply and sluggish demand, according to market sources. Offers for FOB China cargoes of general-purpose molding grade polycarbonate were heard ranging from $1,220/mt to $1,500/mt. Some domestic offers were heard around $1,190/mt, after domestic prices decreased in the week started Aug. 25. Upstream bisphenol-A was also hovering near a bottom but rebounded somewhat in the week started Aug. 25. The BPA East China domestic price fell to a historical low of Yuan 7,425/mt on Aug. 22 and was last assessed at Yuan 7,600/mt on Aug. 27. Market sources...
