Asian nylon-6 prices held stable in the week to Aug. 20, pressured by persistent slow demand. Spot offer levels were stable to lower during the week, with discussions remaining thin as demand remained subdued. "Downstream demand remained weak, but we're unable to lower our offer levels further due to cost pressure from caprolactam," said a China-based producer. "Our sales are sluggish. I think the traditional peak in September might not be arriving," said a local trader. Another producer said, "Nylon-6 is stable to weaker due to slow demand, and our inquiries are not many." Looking ahead, sources expected that improvements from China's latest loan interest subsidies might be limited, while eyeing potential positive effects from China's upcoming policy to tackle longstanding overcapacity in the industry.
