Asian Butadiene: Stable day over day amid tighter supplies / Some plant problems support Asian butadiene prices / CFR SE Asia hits 2-month high

Asian butadiene prices were stable day over day at $1,095/ mt CFR China on Aug. 29, amid tighter supplies for the secondhalf September laycan and some unplanned steam cracker shutdowns. On a week-over-week basis, Asian butadiene as stable to $20/mt higher. In Singapore, Aster Chemicals and Energy will delay restarting its naphtha-fed steam cracker after “an unforeseen event,” sources close to the company said Aug. 29. The cracker, which can produce 155,000 mt/year of butadiene, was scheduled to be restarted in early September. In India, butadiene supplies were seen to be limited amid a plant problem. Market sources said the incidents had prompted short covering in Asia, pushing the CFR Southeast Asia price higher by $20/mt week over week to a two-month high of $1,000/mt on Aug. 29, according to...
