Styrene monomer CFR China and FOB Korea markers at $909.50/mt and $899.50/mt Aug. 22, both up $8.50/ mt from the last assessment, tracking the increase in the China domestic market amid bullish sentiment in the market. The front-month October EB2510 styrene monomer futures contract listed on the Dalian Commodities Exchange was at Yuan 7,378/mt Aug. 22, up Yuan 89/mt day over day as of the close of the afternoon trading session at 3:00 pm Beijing time. During the trading session, sentiment was bullish amid talks that technical issues could affect up to 1 million mt/year of styrene production in China, leading to potential shutdowns.
