Asian phenol up $50/metric ton week over week at $1,070/mt CFR China, while the CFR Southeast Asia marker was similarly $50/mt higher week over week at $1,140/mt on Aug. 4. Discussions in the domestic China phenol market strengthened, with east China ex-tank discussions heard at Yuan 8,800-8,900/mt, compared with Yuan 8,200-8,250/mt in the previous week. Meanwhile, ex-tank prices for acetone in the east China market also firmed up week over week, with discussions heard at Yuan 6,350-6,400/mt, compared with Yuan 6,000-6,100/mt a week ago. A producer based in China attributed the rise in domestic China phenol and acetone prices to "typhoon affecting the arrival of import volumes".
