Sumitomo Chemical Asia has taken off-stream its Acrylonitrile (ACN) unit in Niihama. A source in Japan informed a team member, “The company is heard to have halted operations around August 25, 2025. Further details regarding the duration of the shutdown could not be ascertained, and confirmation from an authorized source was unavailable.” Located in Niihama, Japan, the unit has a production capacity of 70,000 mt/year.
