South Asian PP: Prices rise on costlier freight, fewer offers, tight supply / Injection molding selling at premium in open market / Concerns deepen over persistent supply crunch in India

The South Asian polypropylene market rose in the week to Aug. 26 as persistent tight supply of most grades in India, the largest consumer of the molecule by volume in the region, and fewer offers in the import market, as well as costlier offers on higher freight rates from certain origins, prompted price discussions at higher levels. PP raffia/injection grade up $20/metric ton week over week at $1,290/mt CFR South Asia on Aug. 26, below the lowest offer heard and corroborated at $1,300/mt, considering tradable indications from buyers heard at $1,280- $1,290/mt CFR South Asia.
