South Asia Polyethylene: Prices rise amid higher offers, continued short supply / New Oct shipment offers from Middle East producers higher / Low inventories locally provide support

The South Asia Polyethylene market was higher week over week amid higher offers and tradable indications heard through domestic participants due to low inventory levels. Several traders concurred on last week's sentiment, saying demand is stable; however, buying was only need-based. A trader said that while demand had certainly come down slightly and become need-based, it was still holding steady, however, sentiment-driven fluctuations affect the stocking up of material. Another trader said, “As crude moves, the stock market fluctuates, and immediately there is a shift in prompt demand.” A third trader added that the current volatile situation has left the market “fatigued.” Several other domestic sources added that, despite this, there was some festive demand, in addition to the extra-low inventories across the LDPE and LLDPE grades.
