The South Asian polyethylene market firmed amid continued uncertainty in the Middle East on Sept. 2 as shipment laycans remained uncertain. While new offers were thin, market tradable indications firmed significantly due to the uncertainty of cargo arrival, while many market sources remained on the sidelines to wait and watch price movements before stocking up on any material. One trader commented, however, that demand would ultimately come down as well, given such high prices persisting. Another said that with the current situation, only need-based buying was happening. The front-month ICE Brent crude futures were at $94.94/b, up $2.65/b day over day and over $8/b week over week.
