Indian acetic acid prices softened in the week to Oct. 1 as the arrival of lower-priced cargoes improved availability at Indian ports, while ample selling interest and cautious buying weighed on spot discussions. Offers for October-loading acetic acid cargoes were heard down at least $20-$30/mt week over week at $700-$730/mt CFR India on Oct. 1. Cargoes for October loading were available from Singapore, Malaysia, China, the US and the Middle East, market sources said. Trade discussions remained thin as buyers slowed purchases amid easing domestic prices and expectations of additional cargo arrivals. “I think buyers are more cautious, because now the talk [is] about vessel[s] arriving post Diwali.
