Indian acetic acid prices surged in the week to Aug. 27 amid shipping disruptions to Chinese supplies caused by a series of typhoons. These disruptions in July and August kept near‑term supply tight and pushed up replacement costs, market sources said. India domestic ex-tank prices dropped by at least 7-12 rupees/ kg week over week to the range of 68-70 rupees/kg at Mumbai and Kandla ports as the arrival of some cargoes eased port inventories. However, inventories continued to hover below normal levels as the market faced delays in shipments from China caused by typhoon-related disruptions. Arrivals in end August were offered at 63 rupees/kg while September arrivals were being offered at 55-56 rupees/kg, several market sources said.
