Asian solvent-grade mixed xylenes $4/mt lower week over week at $650/mt FOB Korea on Oct. 10, as the market awaits a tender to provide clarity of the price trajectory. Several sources noted that Taiwan’s CPC floated a sell tender for 3,000 mt of toluene FOB Kaohsiung. However, the company representative was unavailable for comment due to a local holiday. A trader said that weaker toluene prices would exert downward pressure on solvent-MX markets, as the market struggled with limited supply availability. Several sources indicated that the limited supply was a result of poor aromatics margins, as producers are utilizing pygas in the gasoline blending pool.
