The South Asian polyethylene market softened in the week ended Nov. 4 amid a continued fall in price negotiations and persistent softness in demand. Trade discussions for Middle East-origin cargoes reflected a drop week over week. Both the HDPE and LLDPE markets were weaker amid indications of lower rates. Buying interest remains weak, with fewer inquiries for material at higher price levels for LLDPE and HDPE, indicating some softness in demand for the PE grades, an India-based trader said. Another trader based in India indicated a possible downtrend in the Indian PE market, stating that prices could drop by an additional $20/mt.
