India Recycled PE: R-HDPE down Rupees 3/kg WOW / Virgin volatility affecting demand / Black color market weaker amid limited EPR demand

The Indian recycled high-density polyethylene non-food-grade market prices were weaker in the week to Sept. 17 amid poor demand, market sources said. the R-HDPE black-colored deodorized pellets, which have a melt flow index between 0.3 and 0.7, down Rupees 3/kg on the week at Rupees 87/kg based on a sample size of 2.16 kg, amid lower tradeable levels heard from both sellers and traders. The market is currently experiencing a downturn, primarily driven by the reduced adoption of black color in Extended Producer Responsibility norms. This regulatory shift has led to a noticeable decline in demand, particularly within the agricultural pipes sector, compounding the difficulties faced by industry stakeholders.
