India PVC: Prices decline $20/mt amid lower tradeable ideas / Domestic prices decline by Rupees 2-3/kg over week / Traders await PVC antidumping duty implementation

The CFR India PVC suspension grade at $735/ mt, reflecting a decrease of $20/mt for the week due to slower trading activity and lower tradeable ideas. Discussions in the domestic market in India indicated prices in the Rupees 65-70/kg range, down from around Rupees 71-75/ kg a week earlier, due to weaker demand and the availability of cheaper cargoes from China. An influx of low-priced imports from China has put pressure on prices for non-China-origin materials. Trade sources said Chinese-origin cargoes were being discussed in the $650-$655/ mt range for carbide-based products and in the $655-$660/mt range for ethylene-based products. Traders anticipated the implementation of a PVC antidumping duty, following government investigation findings published in mid-August, and this influenced purchase decisions.
