South Asia PE: Prices fall on persistent weak demand / South Asian HDPE film at $915/mt / LLDPE at $910/mt

Import prices in the South Asian polyethylene market dropped in the week to Sept. 17 as sluggish demand and a softer domestic market weighed on trade discussions. Expectations of a downtrend in the import market rose after a domestic producer announced a price reduction and scheme in the week ended Sept. 12, India-based trader and producer sources said "There is no pickup in demand, and the price negotiations are at a lower level in the domestic market. Import rates are set to fall further amid price reduction and scheme announcement by a local supplier," said an India-based source.
