Asia PE: SE Asia prices fall amid slow demand; NE Asia rangebound / SE Asia, Vietnam prices fall $10-$30/mt on week / Mitsui Chemicals, Idemitsu Kosan, Sumitomo Chemical to integrate polyolefin business

Southeast Asian polyethylene prices softened in the week to Sept. 10 amid slow demand and an influx of competitively priced US cargoes. HDPE film down $10/mt week over week at $910/mt CFR Southeast Asia, while LLDPE butene fell $10/mt week over week to $920/mt CFR SE Asia. HDPE film was assessed down $30/mt week over week at $900/mt CFR Vietnam, while LLDPE butene was assessed down $20/mt week over week at $910/mt CFR Vietnam. Market participants said that as the end of the year approaches, more US cargoes have started to flow into Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Brazil's recent implementation of antidumping duties on US imports is also expected to spike the quantity of US cargoes entering Asia as producers attempt to divert their allocation to other countries.
