Phenol prices rise, tracking stronger domestic China market / Buying inquiries for acetone heard thin in SE Asia

Asian phenol $10/mt higher week over week at $785/mt CFR China and Asian acetone $5/mt higher week over week at $570/mt CFR China Feb. 24. Ex-tank prices for phenol and acetone in the east China market were heard at Yuan 6,580-6,600/mt and Yuan 4,650/mt, respectively, compared with Yuan 6,500-6,550/mt and Yuan 4,650/mt the previous week. In the domestic China market, a producer said that "inventory accumulation of phenol and acetone during the Lunar New Year holidays is quite apparent. However, crude prices have risen significantly after the holidays, providing strong upstream support. We would have to wait until downstream players come back to have more clarity".
