Petchem Asia Glycols: Prices soften amid China holidays / China MEG prices retreat before holiday closure / India prices ease while Southeast Asia steadies

Asian monoethylene glycol prices fell in the week to Oct. 2 as Chinese trading thinned ahead of the Oct. 1-7 national holidays. MEG at $750/mt CFR China Oct. 2, stable day over day but down $45/mt week over week. Domestic China MEG was unchanged day over day at 6,270 yuan/mt ex-tank. Prompt domestic China MEG discussions fell from 6,725-6,755 yuan/mt ex- tank Sept. 28 to 6,190-6,240 yuan/ mt for Oct. 5-9 lifting Sept. 30. Mid-October CFR China material traded at $750/mt Sept. 30. A Sept. 30 forecast put ethylene glycol arrivals at major East China ports at 43,700 mt; the figure was a forecast of arrivals, not an inventory reading.
