South Asia PE: Price downtrend persists amid lower buying interest / South Asian HDPE film drops to $910/mt / LLDPE prices fall to $900/mt

South Asian polyethylene market prices for most grades continued to fall in the week ending Sept. 24 amid subdued buying sentiment and weaker domestic PE rates. Though fewer import offers were heard throughout the week, buying indications dropped compared to the previous week as market participants expected new offers from the Middle East region to be announced at lower rates in the coming days. “With the low domestic rates for some PE grades like LLDPE, there is not much incentive left to book import cargoes,” said a Mumbai-based trader.
