Asian orthoxylene fell on weaker demand cues and thin market activity due to ongoing holidays in the region. Asian orthoxylene down $15/mt week over week at $795/mt FOB Korea, $795/mt CFR China and $815/mt CFR Southeast Asia on Oct. 3. Demand cues are considerably muted now, especially as the pthalic anhydride buying interest remains sluggish, a trader in China said. “But we don’t have any demand as the PA (pthalic anhydride) market is too weak,” the trader said. Meanwhile, a trader with a South Korean buyer said they have capped their OX buying demand on account of sluggish downstream activity. “We don’t have any spot demand currently,” the trader said.
